Who qualifies for Medicaid in Maryland?

In Maryland, you may qualify for Medicaid if you meet certain requirements based on your income, household size and category of eligibility.

People who may qualify include:

  • Children
  • Pregnant individuals
  • Parents and caretakers of dependent children
  • Adults 19 to 64 years of age who have low income
  • People who are aged, blind or disabled
  • People who need long-term care or nursing facility services

You may also need to meet residency and other program rules.

Because Medicaid rules can be complex, the best way to know if you qualify is to apply through Maryland Health Connection or contact your local Department of Social Services.
