In December, Priority Partners’ Cupboard Project celebrated the opening of two brand-new free self-serve mini-pantries in Maryland! The first of these opened on Dec. 14 at Living Word Seventh Day Adventist Church in Glen Burnie, and the second opened on Dec. 16 at CCI Health Services in Greenbelt.
Both grand opening events were a huge hit! Guests enjoyed refreshments, music and visits by local community leaders. And everyone’s favorite furry friend, Cubby Bear, also made special appearances to help celebrate.
“We are so thankful for the opportunity to be a host site for this innovative way to increase access to food in our community,” said Jeff Kern, Senior Pastor of the Living Word Church. “We thank Priority Partners for their collaboration in installing this pantry and look forward to the support it will provide to neighbors.”
The new mini-pantries are part of Priority Partners’ Cupboards Project, a program that works to reduce food insecurity in Maryland communities. The custom-built mini-pantries offer free healthy food and nutrition information to neighborhoods in need and operate on a simple motto: “Take What You Need, Leave What You Can.”
Since the Cupboards Project started in 2021, Priority Partners has placed a total of nine mini-pantries across Maryland and launched three “Club on the Go” mobile pantries that bring food directly to communities.
Want to visit a mini-pantry near you? They’re open 24/7 and always stocked with fresh, healthy options! Learn more about the Priority Partners Cupboards Project at PriorityPartnersCupboards.org.
