Stay Safe This Halloween

Halloween is fun, but we want kids to be safe too. Here are easy ways to keep Halloween safe:

  • Kids need a grown-up with them when they trick-or-treat
  • Put shiny tape on costumes and bags so cars can see kids
  • Only go to houses with lights on — never go inside anyone’s house or car
  • Stay with friends and come home on time

Watch Out for Food That Can Make Kids Sick

Some kids get very sick from certain foods. Many Halloween candies have nuts, milk, eggs or wheat. These can hurt kids who have food allergies.

If your child gets sick from some foods, make them wait until they get home to eat candy. First check each piece before they eat it. Even candy that is usually safe might have different ingredients in “fun size” versions.

Important: If your child has bad food allergies, they need to carry their medicine with them all the time.
