Johns Hopkins Health Plans Honored as a Champion of Children

Johns Hopkins Health Plans is proud to be honored as a Corporate Champion by The Tree House Child Advocacy Center of Montgomery, MD. Priority Partners is co-owned by Johns Hopkins Health Plans.

The award was presented as part of Tree House’s Champions for Children Dinner on Sept. 24. Each year, this special evening celebrates people and organizations whose work has made a lasting difference for children and families. We were grateful to be recognized alongside other community leaders who share a deep commitment to keeping kids safe and healthy.

“We are honored to receive this award, and even more honored to stand with Tree House in its important work,” said Dr. Nina Everett, Chief Medical Officer for Priority Partners. “Every child deserves to feel safe, supported and cared for. We’re proud to help make sure that happens, especially when families need it most.”

The Tree House is the only organization in Montgomery County devoted to helping children and teens heal after abuse or neglect. Its team offers medical exams, counseling, family support and other care, all at no cost to families. Last year alone, The Tree House served 843 children and provided more than 9,000 services.

When a recent change in Maryland lab rules cut off access to a key medical test designed for children, The Tree House faced a serious challenge. Johns Hopkins Health Plans stepped in with a $10,000 grant to fund testing for about 70 to 80 children while the state works to restore access, so no child has to go without the care they need.

This award is a reminder of why Johns Hopkins Health Plans and Priority Partners work with community groups like The Tree House Child Advocacy Center: because caring for our members means caring for the communities where they live.
