Can the flu shot give me the flu?
No, the flu shot cannot cause flu illness. The viruses contained in flu shots are inactivated (killed), which means they cannot cause infection.

Are there different types of flu shots?
There are different types of flu shots, and the CDC recommends you receive whatever is available at your pharmacy or doctor’s office.

How much does it cost?
You will not be reimbursed for flu vaccines paid out of pocket. Please make sure to go to one of our vaccine network flu pharmacies where your flu vaccine will be free! Find a pharmacy in our vaccine network where you can get the flu vaccine.

Which brands of the flu vaccine are covered at network flu vaccine pharmacies?
All standard Trivalent and Quadrivalent available brands of the flu vaccine, including FluMist (nasal spray), are covered at network flu vaccine pharmacies. Fluzone intradermal, sort needle vaccine, and the Fluzone High Dose formulations are not covered at the retail pharmacy. If you have questions about the flu, read more about it at www.cdc.gov/flu.
